Connect with your heritage!

Prestonpans is renowned for its industrial heritage – mining, brick kilns, glass making, salt pans – Cockenzie and Port Seton for fishing, ancient harbours, waggonways and the arts, and Longniddry for an abundance of natural heritage along the Bents and Gosford Estate.

Heritage and culture give these places their unique identity and make them special places to live in. The roots of these places are firmly based in their heritage and culture, and building on these roots can have a hugely positive impact on the local economy in terms of health, employment and education as well as adding to a sense of community cohesion and pride.

As part of the National Heritage Lottery Funded Great Places scheme and through the Area Partnership, this project is using heritage and culture to help to connect people from all walks of life with their own place, their own communities.

It supports the incredible range of community heritage groups and organisations which already exist, develop and promote others, and form a network which will help that heritage and culture continue to flourish and thrive across these coastal communities.
