A model boat exhibition showcasing the fishing heritage of Cockenzie & Port Seton took place on 6th & 7th May 2022. The exhibition gave locals the chance to witness the 3D scanning process led by Mike Boyd from the University of Edinburgh, which aims to create a record of as many boats as possible in a virtual exhibition that will be an inspirational resource of the fishing and boatbuilding of Cockenzie & Port Seton. In this short film, directed by Jill De Fresnes and filmed and edited by Ruth Barrie, the fishermen and boat modellers share their memories and insights into this fascinating part of our history and heritage.

This film, on behalf of Salt of the Earth Heritage Connections, has been made as a record for current and future generations, preserving the remarkable stories of Longniddry, East Lothian. In these recollections, there are many connections to the past, intertwined with joy, pride and human experience. Our huge thanks go to the residents who offered their memories, research and time to make this film possible.
